FAQ

Where is your office located?

My office is on the first floor of the office building located at:

400 Chisholm Place, Suite 107Plano, TX 75075

I also can see clients anywhere in Texas virtually through a HIPAA-compliant web platform that I use. Some clients use a “hybrid” option of both in-person and virtual therapy if they face restraints that prevent them from coming into the office regularly.

What are your hours?

My hours are Monday-Thursday 9 am – 4 pm. I am not available on weeknights, Fridays, or weekends. Please note that I do not check email on weekends.

If you have an emergency, I encourage you to contact the suicide prevention hotline at (800) 273-8255, call 9-1-1, or visit your local emergency room.

How long are the sessions? How often do we meet?

Each session is 50 minutes.

We will meet once per week at least. Generally, I do not offer anything less than once per week therapy (e.g., every other week or once per month). There are many reasons for this that I can discuss with you further in person.

How much do you charge?

Each session is $200.

Do you take insurance?
I do not accept insurance. Upon request, I can provide you with a superbill to submit for out-of-network benefits. In many cases, clients can receive reimbursement up to ~50-80% once their out-of-network deductible has been met.
How do I set up an initial appointment?

You can click here, call me at (940) 263-0816, or email me at nickcurciophd@gmail.com.

What is your cancellation policy?
I require a 72-hour notification for cancellations.
With what age ranges do you work?
I work with anyone 18 years and older.
Do you work with women? Men? Couples?
I work with both men and women individually, although I do not see couples.
Do your clients receive assignments to work on between sessions?
It depends. I don’t assign traditional ‘homework,’ but I will sometimes offer things to think about or resources to consider making use of between sessions. I often teach skills in a session that I may recommend you try outside of the therapy room.
What modalities do you use in your client work?
Primarily, I operate within Relational Psychodynamic Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy frameworks.
Do you prescribe medications?
No, I am a psychologist (Ph.D.) and not a psychiatrist (M.D.); thus, I cannot prescribe any medications. If I believe you may benefit from medication, I can provide you with referrals for trusted psychiatrists.
What is this Good Faith Estimate I keep hearing about?
If you are paying privately or using “Out of Network” benefits for your therapy, I will provide you with a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your care will cost. Under the federal “No Surprises Act,” health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency services and you will be provided with a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your first appointment. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
If there’s anything you could change about the field of psychotherapy, what would it be?
I would love to see more bodywork implemented in psychotherapy. Psychotherapy is beginning to realize the importance of mind-body connection and the effects of trauma on our physiology. I can see the future holding much more space for the inclusion of specific bodily techniques (e.g., Holotropic breathwork or myofascial release) to bolster trauma reprocessing.
Bleu cheese or ranch on your wings?
Bleu cheese for wings. Ranch for French fries. This preference is non-negotiable!
